How did LFC begin?
LFC began as an
independent church in 1940, when the Founder Al Ware came to Lompoc to hold
"evangelistic" meetings in the city. A growing group of people began attending
and soon a church was formed and property was purchased on "C" street and the
original sanctuary was erected. This group was very progressive - developing
children's programs and also Youth meetings which were held on various evenings
throughout the month. The church was very involved in the community and in
ministry to Camp Cook - the local Army Base which today is Vandenberg Air Force
Base. After a few years - Al Ware and his family decided to move on from their
ministry here in Lompoc and decided the church would be best served and also be
assured continuity and support by becoming a denominational church. After much
discussion and inquiry the church decided to become a Foursquare Church. The
International Church of the Foursquare Gospel was their choice
. Many
great pastors and leaders have come to the church and continued to see growth
and development of various ministries. In 1986 Pastor Bernie and Debbie
Federmann came to pastor LFC. During this time the church has had significant
growth and has become the largest it has ever been. In 1989 the original
sanctuary was torn down and a new sanctuary was built. More recent has been the
purchase of the "corner house" which is used for various ministry and fellowship
opportunities and the purchase of property and development of a new Multi-Use
and Parking space (40 spaces) completed January 2004. Lompoc Foursquare Church
has seen over 65 years of dedicated and creative ministry to the Lompoc
area, that has
resulted in thousands of salvations, healed and restored lives and families,
support to other churches, worthwhile causes and ministries (both Foursquare and
other denominations).
What is Foursquare?
The term "Foursquare"
refers to the four-fold ministry of Jesus Christ as Savior (Romans 10:9),
Baptizer with the Holy Spirit (Luke 3:16), Healer (I Peter 2:24), and the Soon
Coming King (Acts 1:11). The term Foursquare means: to be balanced; firm,
steady; unswerving.
The Foursquare church has 2000 churches in
America
, and has established national churches in over 90 countries
worldwide. The larger church organization provides accountability, resourcing,
and partnership in global evangelism. Yet, each local church has its own unique
personality, expression and mission. We have no desire to compete, or compare
with other churches but partner with those in our area for the greater good and
the advancing of God's work.
We work hard
to make sure that our services are relevant to your life. We begin our times
with upbeat and contemporary music that reflects the aliveness and personal
relationship that God desires for us to have with Him. We firmly believe that we
were created to worship God and to enjoy His presence. We also realize that we
have so much to be thankful for - how can we but praise Him. Our LFC band uses
guitars, drums, keyboards, and other instruments and vocalists to assist us in
worshipping God in song. Our music and singing give us an opportunity to express
our love and thanks to God for all that He has done and for all that He is.
Following a time of welcoming and being welcomed by those around you, an
opportunity for giving our tithes and offerings is provided (visitors and guests
are not expected to participate in the offering). Then our Pastor shares from
God's Word a message that is practical, applicable, and aimed at your heart. His
communication style is conversational (no one is going to yell at you), employs
humor and sometimes utilizes multi-media, drama, and special music to illustrate
the truths that are taught. Pastor Bernie has been our lead pastor for over 20
years and is very involved with our community and our congregation, therefore he
is keenly aware or issues facing our lives and speaks to build us up and rely in
greater ways upon God Himself. A guiding theme to our services and teachings
are, "if you cannot live it on Monday, we're not going to share it on Sunday,"
because it is during the rest of the week that our faith is lived out.

As a guest will I have to say anything, sign anything, or be singled out in
any way?
If you're
visiting us, we won't ask you to give a dime when we pass the offering plate. We
won't make you wear a visitor badge, or stand up and stick out like a sore
thumb. We want you to experience a warm welcome and receive a personal touch.
You can remain as anonymous as you want, but we encourage you to visit our
church over several weeks as our theme and elements of our service may vary from
week to week. When you are ready, we would like you to fill out a communication
card so that we can give you more information about Lompoc Foursquare
and answer
any questions that you might have. If you choose, you can take the card to our
information table where a free gift and informational CD are available to you.
What about my children and/or teenagers?
While you are
participating in our service, your children and youth are being well cared for
in a safe, clean, age-appropriate environment. Our nurseries feature closed
circuit cameras and all those who serve our young people have been screened via
Live Scan (electronic fingerprinting through the Department of Justice in
Sacramento). We believe that the ministry to our children should be equal to
that of the adults. Our time, resources, and staffing reflect our commitment to
children. You can link to our
Children's Page to learn more about our fantastic ministry to kids.
We also recognize how critical youth are as contributing parts of the church. We
have designed our Youth Ministries (Elevate Student Ministries) to be relevant
and practical while being a fun and wholesome place for teens to be. You can
link on our Youth Page
to learn more.
Why do you have three services?
Due to the
growth of our church and to accommodate busy lives, we provide three services on
Sunday.
They are at 8:00
, 9:15 and
10:45 a.m.
Our 8 a.m.
service is under one hour in length and the other two services are approximately
an hour and fifteen minutes in length. Our 8 a.m. service concludes by 9:00 a.m.
and allows for more opportunities for people to be in church due to work
schedules, and individual and family commitments. Full children's ministry are
provided at all services. If you miss a service - our team has you covered
with tapes, CD's, and DVD's of the message for a nominal cost or you can download
our messages at both a download page
and on itunes for podcasting.
What should I wear?
Whatever you feel
comfortable in. People wear everything from business casual, shirt and ties, to
shorts. Our focus is toward the heart and whatever you wear on the outside is
your choice. You'll find that all ages, races, military and civilian, engineers
and truck drivers and all socio-economics are represented in this church family.
And we like it that way.
Where are you located?
Our church
facility is located at 125 North C Street (just north of Ocean Avenue - Hwy 246
in
Lompoc,
California. Follow the link provided for details to
Lompoc Foursquare
Church, or call the church office for further directions at (805)
736-2772.
In the past
three years we have completed our multi-use and parking area which is located
just across the street from the front doors of our sanctuary and also paid off
all debt on our church facilities and the corner house that we purchased. Our
plan is to expand our sanctuary facilities by adding additional seating capacity
(approx. 200 additional seats) an additional classroom as well as a new meeting
room - classroom in the front of our sanctuary expansion. The corner house which
we purchased a few years ago allows for additional class room and meeting space
and will soon become the site for our multi purpose facility. Being flexible and
creative allows us to do so much with the limited space we have - but we have
room for you and your family. Growth is a blessing and we welcome it with open
and giving hearts that are filled with gratitude.
